  • LODGING

This is the most critical part of the Mexican Jungle Move Map – its what makes this trip different from anything you’ll find in an expedia vacation package and better than any all inclusive 5-star resort.

The folks at [excluded in preview] offer one of the most unique lodging options we’ve ever seen – literary glass houses in the thick of the Mayan jungle. They run a small compound that includes [excluded in preview], with a few options to choose from.

    broken image

We chose to book the [excluded in preview] – this is a specific house, different from the[excluded in preview] and [excluded in preview]

WTM Pro Tip: [excluded in preview]

However, we were so intrigued by [excluded in preview]

    broken image

    WTM Insight:

Looking back, I’m glad we did both because it provided a different experience. Initially we [excluded in preview]. However, it turned out that [excluded in preview] enjoying the spectacular view. Additionally the [excluded in preview] because of shade from trees.

    broken image

This place is far from the airport and deep into the jungle but it sort of must be to provide this type of unique experience. Not to worry, [excluded in preview] and we got there without any issue. See transportation section for overview of what to expect on the drive.

The beach is a must when in Mexico so we found the perfect place to get your beach fix while staying away from the hype and tourism of Cancun’s hotel zone. In fact, we intentionally looked for somewhere that had an authentic local feel – and we found just that!

    broken image

This beachfront condo is a top floor penthouse unit and features the most gorgeous view of the ocean.

[excluded in preview] the VIEW is why we choose the place and why we will always come back to it.

The goal was to have access to a beach without hassle and you can’t get any closer to the water – walk down the stairs and out the back and you could trip and fall into the ocean.

    broken image
    broken image

While this is listed as a ‘penthouse unit’, it is not a luxury stay. It's a LOCAL stay, which is what we were going for – it felt [excluded in preview].

You’re staying here for 3 things:

[excluded in preview]. Yes, the [excluded in preview] was a bigger hit than I expected – the perfect [excluded in preview] and the best mexican beach vibes coming through your speaker (don’t forget to pack that!)

    broken image
    BOOK LODGING
  • TRANSPORTATION

Getting a rental car is a MUST for this trip – taxis or driving services just dont make sense… and we found that driving is part of the experience!

    broken image

There are plenty of rental car options but after all my research, I found that

[excluded in preview] was the best option – decent prices with a seamless pick up and drop off process. Once you arrive at the airport, walk to the

[excluded in preview] rental car booth and an associate will take you outside (past all the people trying to solicit you for a ride – just point and say you’re good already 🙂) where you’ll board a nice van with the company logo. A short ride (~4min) and you’re at the rental office and shouldn’t have much of an issue.

WTM Pro Tip: we found it beneficial to be friendly with the staff – attempting to speak spanish as best we could - and it led to the guy providing us a slight upgrade.

    broken image

Due to the driving route to the jungle it is strongly recommended that you get at least a

[excluded in preview] – we originally booked a  [excluded in preview] but ended up with the upgrade and glad we did. It was just big enough to handle the massive potholes (see below)

The reason you want to rent a car is because you’ll be traveling quite a bit – see maps below.

~34 miles (~1hr) from [excluded in preview]

    broken image

~46 miles (~1.2hr) from  [excluded in preview]

  • EXPERIENCES

Although the emphasis of this experience is relaxation with your spouse or partner, we sprinkled in just enough activity to enhance the trip and make new memories!

    PRIVATE CHEF DINNER

    broken image

[excluded in preview] offer a private chef dinner, breakfast or an all day (3 meals) experience. I ultimately decided on just doing 1 chef dinner because I planned to make dinner using their rooftop grill.

The chef dinner was BOMB and an amazing experience – it was more food than I expected and left us feeling very satisfied! The chef also brings a bottle of wine.

Once booked, [excluded in preview] will provide a detailed rundown of menu options etc. [excluded in preview]

    CENOTES TOUR

    broken image

This too is an experience we booked through [excluded in preview] ....[excluded in preview]

If you’re like us and don’t know what a cenote is, it's basically a natural sinkhole or cave full of water. They’re quite fascinating and can be beautiful – but also pretty spooky looking lol. Apparently there are a ton of Cenotes and many offerings – we can confidently recommend this one.

We recommend going in the morning (9a) as we did – it was about 15-20mins from [excluded in preview] (see pro tip about route) and the tour place is cool. The experience comes with [excluded in preview] cenotes stops but trust us – you only need [excluded in preview]. Don’t waste your time on going to [excluded in preview] (see below).

After signing forms, we were led straight to the first Cenote which was apparently just a “warm up”. For the more adventurous, we recommend you take the leap and jump from the top opening – there are a set of stairs for those who aren’t as ambitious. It was a beautiful, peaceful experience (after my wife’s hysteria subsided lol) and we strongly encourage anyone who battles with fear to let it go and enjoy the beauty of nature!

Due to the depth (like 300ft deep) the water looks black but its crystal clear – when light hit the water, you can see through the water very clearly. Its beautiful. After about [excluded in preview], you’ll load into a pick up truck and ride about 10mins to the next cenotes. When you walk up on it, you’ll see why the first one is called a “warm up” lol. It is magnificently beautiful. The cenote has several different options for jumping into the water including a few zip lines. Again, take the leap of faith and enjoy it by jumping in! After jumping in a few times, we found it very relaxing to just float in the water looking up at the beauty surrounding us. [excluded in preview]

    JETSKI & SNORKELING TOUR

Although we were taking the ‘path less traveled’ by staying outside of the touristy trap of "Hotel Zone", I still wanted an opportunity to at least see it and booking this specific [excluded in preview] tour allowed for it! This was my favorite experience of the trip and best jet ski experience I’ve ever had!

    broken image

There are a lot of [excluded in preview] experiences offered in Cancun and I did all the research and can confidently recommend this specific one. I found it easiest to [excluded in preview] -- thankfully for you, I handled that part already!

The tour is [excluded in preview] long and consists of a [excluded in preview] ride across the calm lagoon and into the ocean. Once there, you’ll get [excluded in preview] of snorkeling time seeing the beautiful coral reefs and some underwater statues. Then its [excluded in preview] ride back and on the way back they take you to a calmer area and let you open it up! We were going full ass speed and it was gliding across the water! They provide you with life jackets so even if you aren’t a strong swimmer (like my wife lol) you’ll be just fine!

WTM Pro Tip: [excluded in preview]

    Prices: [excluded in preview]

Also, you’ll need to be prepared to pay [excluded in preview] for the marina docking fee. Lastly, be prepared to pay for the pics and videos they’ll show you at the end. They shoot some dope drone footage when you’re out on the water and that alone we felt was worth the package. It was about [excluded in preview]

OTHER [excluded in preview] EXPERIENCES (FYI)

[excluded in preview] offer a number of experiences [excluded in preview] including the private chef mentioned above. Here at WTM, we felt it was important to provide clarity based on our experience.

    broken image

In addition to the Chef dinner, we also purchased the [excluded in preview] and the [excluded in preview]. Based on the pictures in the pamphlet, I assumed the[excluded in preview] was basically a special [excluded in preview] that involved [excluded in preview] – we didn’t realize there was [excluded in preview] included, which was in direct conflict with [excluded in preview].

It was based on Mayan [excluded in preview] etc. Some of the other experiences offered were pretty obvious in their description but this one was [excluded in preview]. So, we stopped the experience midway through and [excluded in preview] as well.

    broken image

Based on the experience we had, I expect those who are [excluded in preview] may enjoy them – we just can’t personally endorse nor suggest it. So this isn’t an endorsement – just simply a heads up. [excluded in preview]

  • WTM PRO TIPS

Be sure to read through the detailed itinerary above as we’ve sprinkled WTM Pro Tips & WTM Insights throughout. Below are a few other things we think are important to know to ensure you have an amazing experience!

PRO TIP: DOWNLOAD MUSIC PLAYLISTS AHEAD OF TIME

We’re believers that good music will always enhance the vibes so we recommend preparing a few playlists (or follow existing ones) and downloading it your device. It's likely your phone will lose signal and nothing worse than losing the vibes! Below are a few recommendations.

    broken image

    VIBES

find or create playlists for the following moments:

Latin Hip Hop - to maximize the local vibes, we enjoyed jamming some dope latin jams even though we didn’t know what they were saying! Lol Found a song and had it on repeat most of the time: [excluded in preview]

[excluded in preview] - great for the sunset drive sing-a-long to unlock the [excluded in preview]!

Sexy Time – whatever gets you and your partner revved up, have it ready! Thank me later 😎

    RECOMMENDED PLAYLISTS

follow and download/save these (Spotify linked)

    • [excluded in preview]: super chill mix of instrumentals that make for a great soundtrack when relaxing [excluded in preview]
    • [excluded in preview]: another mellow mix that maximizes the relaxation vibes

PRO TIP: PLAN YOUR GROCERY LIST

We went with a relatively simple grocery list but made a few of our favorites ([excluded in preview]). It was a little challenging not having a grocery list with translations so we just went based on what we could tell was what. To help, here’s [excluded in preview] with translations.

    broken image

Another expert level option would be doing an [excluded in preview]. I wish we would’ve done this but looking back it was [excluded in preview].

Here’s the website:[excluded in preview] and be sure to set the location to [excluded in preview] Q.R., Mexico

    broken image

PRO TIP: ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO PACK

In addition to plenty of lounge wear (no need for [excluded in preview] this trip) you’ll want to pack the essential items listed below

    broken image
    • Bluetooth Speaker: we own the [excluded in preview] which packs a punch and is worth having vs a smaller speaker – but whatever you have could suffice but you’ll have plenty of space to cover in your lodging.
    • [excluded in preview]: this was CRITICAL for the[excluded in preview]. Amazon has a ton of options.
    • Water Shoes: an important one for [excluded in preview].
    • Sunscreen and Bug Repellent: with plenty of time in the sun either from the rooftop of your Glass House or during the jetski trip, you’ll want protect your melanin. When you’re in the jungle, expect to see bugs – its nature! Though, the property does spray the area to keep pesky insects away but won’t eliminate all of them.
    • [excluded in preview]: we found this to be helpful when navigating [excluded in preview] at night – we didn’t venture out too far but having a more powerful [excluded in preview].
    • [excluded in preview]: mentioned this earlier but listing it again because you’ll have a good time [excluded in preview] – or any other time in the future!

PRO TIP: CLEAR COMMS WITH [excluded in preview]

    broken image

When booking [excluded in preview]. This saves you some money because you’re not having to pay [excluded in preview] twice in separate [excluded in preview].

This is when you’ll also [excluded in preview]. See “Just FYI” area above under the [excluded in preview] Section

We always ask for [excluded in preview] before.

    PRO TIP: CENOTES TOUR DIRECTIONS

In the Day 2 itinerary section, we mention a major flaw in Google Maps going from [excluded in preview]. Instead of taking the suggested route which tells you [excluded in preview] (DONT DO IT!), continue ahead and [excluded in preview]. See the map screenshots below and THANK US LATER 😎

    broken image

PRO TIP: PHONES ON [excluded in preview]

Once you're there and settled, we strongly recommend putting the phones on airplane mode (playlists will still play because they're downloaded 😎 ) and prioritize time together - either egaged in conversation or simply in silence enjoying eachother's presence.

    broken image

We found that implementing a [excluded in preview] execellent idea -- it'll all be there when you return home! Be sure to grab [excluded in preview] and get into it!

With 5 kids, [excluded in preview]

Me to Her: "Them kids gon be aight!"

    broken image

PRO TIP: KEEP YOUR HEAD ON THE SWIVEL

It's Mexico and we’ve all heard the horror stories of people get snatched, however, in our experience we had no issues whatsoever!

    broken image

In addition to simply having general street smarts (which I assume you do if you've purchased this Move Map!), I think we didn't have any issues because we were [excluded in preview].

We’ve provided a full [excluded in preview]. Just be smart and [excluded in preview] as best you can.

Be sure to provide your family with details of your vacation including addresses – just a general rule of [excluded in preview].
